You’ll Know The Costs Before You Commit

Legal fees shouldn’t be a mystery, and they never are here, at Tamir Litigation Law Firm. Before we begin any work, we’ll give you a clear breakdown of the expected costs, no hidden fees, no surprises. Whether it’s a flat rate or hourly billing, we’ll walk you through your options so you can make an informed decision with confidence. Clarity upfront means fewer headaches later.

hourly fees

Anna Tamir’s hourly fees start at $320/hr +HST. However the fees/ final bill can be adjusted depending on complexity of the case and particulars of client’s situation. Repeat clients always receive additional discounts.

Lawyers are required by law to charge HST on legal fees and certain disbursements (out-of-pocket costs). Unfortunately, there’s no way around it, it’s mandatory, and we have to include it on your invoice whether we like it or not.

free initial consultation

We offer free initial consultations on all new matters. But let’s be clear: this is not the same as free legal advice.

The purpose of the initial consultation is to hear you out, understand the facts of your case, and give you an honest opinion about what the next steps should be. In some situations, like insurance claims, we may be able to provide some free legal advice as part of that conversation.

But in most cases, the consultation is a chance for us to determine whether your matter even requires a lawyer. Sometimes it doesn’t. And if that’s the case, we’ll tell you so right away, no strings attached.

We will be honest – some matters do not require lawyer’s involvement at all, and if that’s the case, we will let the client know upfront.

flexible billing for the right cases

We understand that legal fees can be daunting, especially when you’re already dealing with a stressful situation. That’s why we offer flexible billing options, including deferred billing, payment plans, and contingency fee arrangements in appropriate cases.

Whether these options are available will depend on the type of matter, the complexity of your case, and your financial circumstances. We’ll talk openly with you about what makes the most sense, no surprises, no fine print.

We also don’t believe in dragging clients through trial just for the sake of it. Going to trial is expensive and time-consuming. We only recommend it when it’s clearly worth it, strategically, financially, or otherwise. If a negotiated resolution makes more sense for your situation, that’s the path we’ll pursue.

People walking on a city street, representing real clients facing legal fee questions.
One of the biggest frustrations clients have with lawyers isn’t the legal work, it’s the invoice. That frustration usually stems from confusion about where the time goes. This post breaks down how litigation actually unfolds, what clients are billed for, and why even “quick updates” and emotional support are part of legal work. If you’re hiring a lawyer, you’re paying for their time, expertise, and judgment, not just their presence in court.
To visually represent the institutional setting of the Law Society Tribunal and the Ontario Court of Appeal, reinforcing the authority and formality of the professional discipline process discussed in the article.
In Law Society of Ontario v. Guiste, the Tribunal upheld a suspension and a $225,000 costs award, not just based on past conduct, but on how the licensee behaved during the hearing. This case shows that in professional discipline, remorse must be demonstrated, not declared. Evidence matters, including for claims of reform or financial hardship. For lawyers facing discipline, credibility and documentation are everything. It’s not just the evidence you file, its also how you conduct yourself during the hearing.
